People organized dance and make their home beautiful hoping god durga will come and bless them.
Dashain is fifteen days festival so it is one of the longest festivals of Nepali people. The first day of dashain is celebrated as Ghatasthapana. God durga image is decorated along with kalash and it is put in the prayer room. Image of the god durga and kalash is worship by the head of the family member, daily in the morning and the evening. And also the Jamara (growing leaf of maize, rice and wheat) is plant during the ghatasthapana. Jamara is used by elder people during the 10th day of dashain to bless younger one.
As days passes the seventh day is called 'Fulpati'. The Fulpati filled with holy water, banana stalks, jamara (growing leaf of the wheat, maize and rice) and sugar cane tied with red cloth is carried by Brahmans to the Dashain Ghar.  Eighth day of Dashain is celebrated as Durga Ashtami. Also known as Maha Ashtami, this festival is an auspicious day to worship the Mother Goddess (Navadevi). On this day many orthodox Hindus will be fasting. The night of the eighth day is called 'Kal Ratri', the dark night. Hundreds of goats, sheep and buffaloes are killed at the mother goddess temples. The ninth day is called 'Nawami'. Ram Nawami is celebrated as Lord Ram's Birthday.

Finally, the tenth day is the 'Dashami'. This is the main day of celebrating dashain. On this day people take tika and jamara from their elders and receive their blessing. People visit elders in their home and get tika from them while younger ones come to elders home to receive blessing.
